We’re excited to share an update on our refugee sponsorship efforts. The application package is now in Ottawa, where Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will begin processing it. We are currently awaiting the Canadian "G" number, which confirms that the family is officially in the system. Once received, the next phase will begin: the Canadian Consulate in Pakistan reviewing the family’s case for acceptance into Canada.
We remain hopeful that Afghan refugees in Pakistan will be fast-tracked, as the Canadian government is aware of the urgent and precarious conditions they face.
Additionally, we’ve connected with SHARP-Pakistan, a non-profit agency based in Islamabad that works to protect refugees and prisoners awaiting safe exit from Pakistan. We’ve reached out to them by email and expect a response soon. As the final days of Ramadan lead into Eid ul-Fitr in late March, we recognize they may be particularly busy, so we plan to send a follow-up message early next week.
