Dear Friends, 
 
We have just launched Basic Income BC (BIBC), joining networks across Canada advocating for a livable basic income guarantee for those who need it, regardless of their work status. Until we have a basic income guarantee in Canada, many of us will continue to be left behind living in poverty. Canada needs a renewed social safety net for the 21st century  that includes both income security and the social supports and services we need to live with dignity.
 
BIBC was very disappointed when the BC Government's expert panel did not recommend a basic income for everyone who needs it. We responded by creating a petition urging the BC government to enter into discussion with the federal government to provide both income security AND the supports and services many living on low-incomes need.
