The Worship Team met in Irving Park on Monday to imagine the possibility of gathering in person, appropriately distanced (of course!) for a service in the park on August 30th.
The more we talked the more enlivened we became as we envisioned 25 people being welcomed into the space by the greeters and the sound of music, setting their chairs down in the spaces marked out, looking around at each other - big smiles (behind masks) - as we begin to lift our voices in prayer and praise!
We’ll begin with a phone call to each of the people on our congregation list we recognize has not been able to join the Sunday services on-line with any or consistent success. Priority will be given to these folks as it’s been a long time since they have gathered with JBUC for worship. It turns out that is about 25 people – exactly the number we can accommodate in the park, safely and effectively.
If there is an eager response, our plan is to have a second service that afternoon, accommodating another 25 people. We imagine that more of us are eager for an opportunity to worship together in person. Stay tuned for more details about registering your interest for that service.
