Good afternoon James Bay United,
As I understand it, in less than 24 hours from now, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be in our neighbourhood ... just in time to experience some of what United Churches are near famous for: the Potluck supper. As luck would have it, and a lot of elbow grease, our church kitchen is as ready for royalty as ever it was ... big thanks to Bev, Marguerite and Sally who after last Sunday's meeting in the kitchen, went to town on the place, cleaning, sorting, organizing, labelling. The place is a pleasure to step into, and setting up for things like tomorrow night's potluck will be made easy. So dawn your bib and tucker, bring along a dish to share. The theme for the evening is "Finding Joy ... and being found by joy." The doors will be open at 5:20 pm. Enter off the patio at the back of the building.
I want to reiterate the call that went out last week for anyone who may be ready to consider becoming a member of James Bay United Church. Perhaps you sense a home for your heart in the life of this congregation, or a desire to take a step that signals your commitment to be more intentional about your faith journey and to be part of strengthening the life and mission of James Bay United Church. Please be in touch with me if you would like to explore the question of membership. Give me a call, 250 384 5821, or send me a note by way of the contact link below. I would really welcome the conversation.
I notice that we have no one signed up for our after service coffee time this Sunday. Seems to me that fellowship time over the last month has been really appreciated ... more people have lingered a while and some very fine conversations have been had. With Jill away for a few months, we're needing folks to sign up week to week into November. It would be great to have a few people step forward for that this week. If that's something you could offer this week, please drop me a line.
This Sunday we'll be gathering upstairs in the (other) sanctuary for worship. The air is clear, and God willing, the fresh winds of the Spirit will be moving among us.
Grace and Peace, Karen
