Good morning, James Bay United Church,
Gratitude abounds this morning as I come to jot this note.
Big THANKS to everyone who made last Sunday's Welcome Feast such a fine celebration. The newly created area to welcome children in the sanctuary sparkled with delight. Thank you Bev and Cheryl M. The choir was in fine voice, gladly making room for new arrivals. The offering of desserts and salads for our patio BBQ was lavish, and what a joy to see people crowding into the picnic table seating, delighting in conversation together, and oh yes, the food! Thanks to Ralph and Doug for tending the barbeques.
Big THANKS to Bev and Martin for their labour outdoors, cleaning up around the Thrift Shop and parking lot over the last 2 weeks.
Big THANKS to Linda, Joan, Robin and Gary who are hosting the reception this afternoon following the memorial service for Don McKimmie.
Plans are in place for a number of opportunities for growing in faith and friendship this Fall. If you are planning to participate in one of the three Soulful Wednesday options, please indicate your interest to help us in our preparations. What's With the Bible?, Reading, Reflecting & Reworking, or Our Sacred Lives. Sign up at coffee time this Sunday or send me a note.
Next Saturday evening, you won't want to miss it ... our "Picture This" event. Check it out.
And finally, a word about Irene Nepstad. Many of us were caught by surprise at the news of her death in August ... even though, at 102, she and we knew the day could come any time soon. Next Sunday, September 24, we'll be incorporating into our morning service, a celebration of Irene's magnificent life. Your part in letting others know would be appreciated.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow if you're able to be part of our Sunday morning gathering.
Grace and Peace, Karen
