Good morning James Bay United Church,
There’s no denying our long awaited summer has truly arrived! For some of us this means a change of pace, even a change of scene. Whether you are at home or away during this season, may there be delight in your days, and whatever you need for a sense of renewal in body, mind and spirit.
Kathie Putt, who chairs our Ministry and Personnel Committee,* is wanting us to be aware that through July and August, the church office will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. The shorter work-week is in aid of compensating Vanya for some of the accumulated overtime hours in the past year. (* FYI The mandate of the M&P committee is to attend to staff working conditions and support healthy relationships between staff and members of the congregation.)
The Pride Parade this year is happening on Sunday July 9. As in the past few years, there are a number of Victoria United Churches participating both in the parade and in hosting an information / conversation table at MacDonald Park, where there will be booths galore for celebrating and connecting throughout the afternoon. This year the start time for the parade is 11am, an hour earlier that before. Stay tuned for more details, as we work out our approach to worship and walking that day.
If you are intending to make a donation to the Extreme Hunger Appeal, this is the last Sunday donations can be received through James Bay United Church, to be in time for the government matching donation.
And this is the last call for anyone wishing to join the Worship Team for a conversation on Tuesday (1pm) as we do some preliminary planning for the Season of Creation. Your creativity and imagination, your passion for the care of the Earth will be so welcome at the table. Just come!
Those of you who are able to be part of our Sunday morning gathering tomorrow, I look forward to worshipping with you. Those of you who may already be in “other parts,” the blessings of the Spirit be yours.
Grace and Peace,
Karen
