Starting this Monday, BC hotel workers will begin a hunger strike outside the Legislature to draw attention to the province's 50,000 laid-off hotel workers.  As businesses begin to reopen, they are without a legal right to get their jobs back. Meanwhile they have spent their lives building BC’s tourism industry.

As you might imagine, a hunger strike is serious business.  Spiritual and moral support is critical.  Each day there will be representatives of faith groups offering inspiration. There will be a press conference and opening ceremony on Monday, August 10th at 10am. Denise Nadeau of JBUC will be speaking with the hunger strikers on Tuesday morning. The community rallies on Wednesday and Friday are key opportunities to demonstrate solidarity. Updates with details of actions throughout the week can be found here.
