Contemplating stories in scripture (and not only scripture) is one of the spiritual practices that open the way for holy encounter. The Ignatian practice of “praying with our imagination” invites us to find our way into the scene with all our senses awakened, like we are there; and to allow the story and the conversation to unfold how it will. Consider spending time with the passage we’ll encounter in the service this Sunday.
