This Sunday will be a first in a LONG time that we’ll be welcoming people into our sanctuary for worship. An exciting prospect AND it won’t be the same as when we were last there together. The Worship Team encourages you to take some time to think on these things:
Remember we’re not all the same. We’ve experienced this last year differently. So be prepared for the fact that the experience of coming back together won’t be the same for others as it is for you. Some of us will be over the moon; some of us will be hesitant; some of us will be confident; some disoriented. After so much time apart, social interaction may feel awkward, difficult, scary. People you have reached out to before to shake a hand or give a hug might well not be ready for that … as you might not be ready for that. Be gentle with yourself. And allow others the time and space they need to find their way. Take time to read the signals from others and in your own being.
The look and feel of the sanctuary is different. As you step into the sanctuary you’ll notice the front section of pews are gone, and chairs are spaced 6 feet apart. Because we will continue to be livestreaming from the sanctuary, you’ll notice camera tripods and a tv monitor. The piano is positioned differently. We’ve arranged seating so no matter where you are sitting you will have a sense of others in your company. And it will feel different.
Ushers will be there to warmly welcome you and to guide you.
