A Teacher named “Fair Wind”

Who of us knew that in the late 70’s, early 80’s there was already the teaching of local Indigenous ways and history happening among students at Stelly’s High School thanks to Tsartlip elder Dave Elliott?  Over 20 hours of oral history --much of what he shared with young people, native and non-native-- have been taped and transcribed and gathered up in the book Saltwater People, as told by Dave Elliott Sr., now available throughout the School District 63.
