Write a Letter ~ Change a Life! … Every year, around December 10th, International Human Rights Day, Amnesty International mobilizes people all around the world to write letters (yes, with a pen and paper, envelope and stamp!), and change lives.

We are creating an opportunity in James Bay on Sunday December 8 following the service, and outdoors on the front patio on Tuesday, December 10 from noon to 9pm.

This year’s Write for Rights campaign is unique for its focus on young people who are taking on some of the world’s biggest crises.

For example:

right here in Canada, of Indigenous youth from Asubpeeschoseewagong (Grassy Narrows) First Nation who are fighting for justice in the face of 50 years of mercury poisoning in their community.

Sarah Mardini and Seán Binder who are facing prison in Greece for rescuing refugees at sea

Marinel Sumook Ubaldo who became a climate activist at 16, following the devastating typhoon Yolanda that destroyed her village in the Philippines.
