Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church proudly presents The Jazz Hour with Scott White!

Victoria bassist-extraordinaire – former Music Director with Cirque du Soleil and multi-genre musical maverick – leads an all-star classic jazz quintet humorously called The Jazz Hour: a special concert celebrating the unique musical gifts of the group.

Featuring saxophonist Henry Boudin, guitarist Andrew Janusson, drummer Matt Pease, and pianist Dr. Tony Genge.

Date: Tuesday, October 7, 2025
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: James Bay United Church, 511 Michigan St.
Admission: by donation ($20 suggested, but all are welcome)

In this special quintet, Scott brings together long-time musical friends to create an evening full of surprises!

Scott White has collaborated in nearly every musical genre imaginable – from chamber music to folk, punk rock to country – performing widely in traditional jazz, avant-garde, and mainstream settings around the world.

Special guest saxophonist Henry Boudin, originally from Montreal, went on to perform south of the border with a veritable Who’s Who of jazz, soaking up the vibrant New York City scene of the late 1960s and rubbing shoulders with the giants of jazz – from John Coltrane and Horace Silver to Dizzy Gillespie and more.

Jazz guitarist Andrew Janusson is one of the bright young lights on the West Coast jazz scene! Based in Nanaimo, Janusson spends much of his time on the North Island but is in high demand, performing with numerous respected bandleaders in Victoria and Vancouver – including Scott White, Tony Genge, and Kelby MacNayr – as well as making a recent guest appearance with Miles Black and Jodi Proznick.

Drummer Matt Pease comes by his musical talent honestly as the son of legendary saxophonist and clarinetist Al Pease. Growing up behind the drums, Matt was steeped in the world of traditional and mainstream jazz and quickly became a fan favourite in a wide range of musical settings – from folk and rock to country and jazz.

Pianist Dr. Tony Genge is no stranger to Tuesday Night Jazz fans! Renowned as one of the finest and most swinging jazz pianists in the country, Tony brings his concise and eloquent stylings to this stellar quintet.
