At Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church, we love bringing together exciting and inspiring combinations of musicians and instruments — and this coming Tuesday is no exception!

Featuring not one, but two trombone players, this week’s lineup brings together legendary performers who share a deep respect for each other’s playing and a mutual love of swing music.

Trombonist Brad Shigeta is a Canadian jazz legend who moved to New York City to launch what became a storied career, performing with the likes of Dave Holland, Wynton Marsalis, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and the legacy big bands of the Count Basie Orchestra and the Duke Ellington Orchestra, among many others.

Now recently relocated to Canada’s West Coast and based in Vancouver and Seattle, Brad Shigeta makes a special trip to Victoria to reunite with longtime musical friends.

Also joining us this Tuesday: renowned Saskatchewan trombonist Ross Ulmer, Vancouver bassist Noah Gotfrit — well-loved in the city’s thriving swing scene and making his Tuesday Night Jazz debut — along with Vancouver pianist Fran Jaré and drummer extraordinaire Matt Pease!

Come for a fabulous night of musical mayhem, chemistry, and swing featuring special guest Brad Shigeta and more.
