Celebrating the timeless seasonal classics of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and more!
Drummer/vocalist Kelby MacNayr leads an all-star trio through the swinging sounds of classic holiday jazz with sensational guitarist John Lee and jazz organist Dr. Tony Genge.
The phenomenal multi-instrumentalist John Lee has made a name for himself as a pianist, bassist, drummer, guitarist, and jazz organist. Renowned as a bandleader, collaborator, and educator, John is a powerful force on the West Coast and international jazz scene.
Jazz organist, pianist, composer, and educator Dr. Tony Genge has been a mainstay of the Canadian jazz community for over 40 years. After teaching at one of the country’s most prestigious jazz programs, Dr. Genge retired to the West Coast and has been an invaluable part of Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church since its inception.
A renowned drummer, composer, and educator, Kelby MacNayr has performed across Canada and the U.S. with leading musicians from Anne McDougall to Louise Rose, from Terrell Stafford to George Colligan, and from John Clayton to Campbell Ryga.
A deep love and respect for the music has led MacNayr to study with some of the greatest living masters, including drummers Jeff Hamilton, Alan Jones, and Joe LaBarbera, and vocalists Louise Rose, Marion Cowings, and Barbara Blair.
In this special edition of MacNayr’s Tiny Rhythm Kings, we feature acclaimed multi-instrumentalist virtuoso John Lee on guitar and the swinging elder statesman of jazz Dr. Tony Genge on the Hammond B3 organ.
Expect to feel good!
Expect your toes to tap, your spirits to lift, and to share in a joyful evening of classic jazz!
