Friday, April 14th: 5pm ~ The Roots of Contemporary Cuban Music.

Join us for an interactive workshop exploring the rich history, rhythms and melodic lines of Cuban genres such as danzon, habaneras, son and charanga. OKAN leaders, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne (both Juno winners and Latin Grammy and Grammy nominees) will take participants on an journey through the musical traditions (from European court music to African-based religious music) that inform their award winning repertoire, and that of other contemporary Cuban composers.

OKAN will be performing at Hermann's Upstairs on April 13th and April 14th.  Info and tickets at www.caravanbc.com
